Mood -Emotion Setting
Scene Setting
Autism can create situations where incorrect assumptions are made based on a person’s external emotional appearance. SABA gives users the power to show how they are feeling, even if they find it difficult to do so with their own words or body language. Users are given countless customizable avatars and scenes along with limitless emotions to display on SABA’s main screen.
Form Factor Ideation
In concert with developing a fresh u.i. and u.x. interface I began looking for compact and elegant ways to package a screen that could be easily seen from a distance. Two main directions became apparent, with a hinged layout eventually taking the lead.
Final Model:
The final model, meant to display form and function, was generated in Solidworks and, unlike previous prototypes, was CNC cut. Lastly, hand-sanded and painted to appear as aluminum and ABS plastic. The resulting model even featured cutouts that were filled with lead, then filled/painted over to add realistic weight.
Click-wheel interface - enables users to select how they are feeling through a variety of customizable avatars and emotions.
SABA is the basis for an entire family of software and hardware products that will serve to ‘translate’ autism.
Emotions in Context… The same expression can mean many things - SABA gives users a variety of emotion setting options to choose from.
Instead of trying to modify autistic behavior SABA helps the world see and understand autism through translation.
E-Ink gives SABA’s main display a uniquely analogue look - perfect for the low-refresh content SABA displays. This technology helps give SABA its weeks-long battery life and low price-point.
